Steve graduated from the University of Colorado in 1975.   He subsequently attended dental school at Loyola University of Chicago and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1979.   Thereafter, he completed a one year general practice residency at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.   During this time, Dr. Folson developed a special interest in periodontology, the study of the supporting structures of the teeth (gum tissue and supporting bone).   In 1980 he returned to Loyola University in Chicago for a two-year residency in periodontics.   He was awarded both a Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science degree in 1982.

Subsequently, he and his wife, Gretchen, relocated to Arizona to begin his private practice in periodontics in July, 1982.   He was the first full-time periodontist in the Sun Cities and Peoria.   In 1988, Dr. Folson achieved Diplomate status with The American Board of Periodontology.

Presently, Dr. Folson is a Peoria periodontist who has a thriving and diverse practice devoted to periodontics and dental implant surgery.   Dr. Folson strongly believes in collaborative care and has a positive relationship with dozens of dental colleagues in the West Valley.   He is a member of the American Board of Periodontology, American Academy of Periodontology, Western Society of Periodontology (WSP), Arizona Society of Periodontists (ASP), American and Arizona Dental Associations. Steve is honored to serve on the Board of Directors of WSP representing ASP.
